Year 5 pupils from Grove Road represented the RLP at the D-Day 80 commemorative service at St Peter & St Paul's Church in Tring on 6th June.  They listened intently to readings and broadcast clips that helped them to understand the role of the troops who landed in Normandy on 6th June 1944.

After the service they spoke at length to an RAF veteran who took the time to explain his role and the medals he had been awarded for brave service in The Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan. The children were fascinated to talk first hand to a veteran and it was a powerful experience to discuss the role that servicemen and women play in fighting for peace now and in the past.
